Consumer Affairs Bulletin 2026-01: Mortgage Brokers Act – 2026 Mandatory Continuing Education

The Director of Consumer Affairs has approved a mandatory 2026 New Brunswick Continuing Education Course for all Mortgage Brokers and Associates licensed under the Mortgage Brokers Act (Act). The education will be available online starting January 21, 2026.

Course Material

Mortgage Professional Canada (MPC) is the approved education provider for the online 2026 Continuing Education Course. This mandatory course provides an overview of key legislative requirements under the New Brunswick Mortgage Brokers Act and Rules, with a focus on obligations unique to New Brunswick.

Licensees can access full course details and registration through the MPC website.

Who must complete the course?

All licensed Brokers and Associates holding a licence issued before January 21, 2026 must complete the 2026 New Brunswick Continuing Education course by March 31, 2026

Failure to provide the certificate of completion before April 1, 2026 will result in an automatic licence suspension pursuant to paragraph 18(3)(d) of the Act. The suspension will remain in effect until the certificate of completion is received. 

What do I do after I complete the course?

You must forward a copy of your certificate of completion to mortgage.licensing@fcnb.ca immediately after successfully completing the Continuing Education Course.

New Applicants

Applicants licensed on or after January 21, 2026 must complete the Continuing Education course within three (3) months from the date their licence is issued

Failure to report their continuing education within this time will result in an automatic licence suspension pursuant to paragraph 18(3)(d) of the Act. The suspension will remain in effect until the certificate of completion is received.
